Arctic Hilltop Boutique Hotel Iso-Syöte

One of the greatest joys of the year 2020 for us was the opening of the Arctic Hilltop Boutique Hotel Iso-Syöte. We had the pleasure to take part in creating the interiors of this unique hotel. The textile collection and fabric qualities designed exclusively for the hotel, enhance the atmosphere in every space of the hotel: lobby, Star superior -rooms, Beard Cave and Phoenix suites.

The savour of the interiors of this exquisite hotel are created by delicate color nuances and refined materials. Every space has an own, distinguish atmosphere. Textiles enhance the atmosphere, heightening its uniqueness. Fabrics, textile materials and textures offer visual and tactile experiences.

Textile design process started in good time, in December 2019. The design process of the materials, colors and structures moved ahead with the interior design project. Material design and choices were made on the grounds of authenticity and naturality, keeping usability and maintainability in mind.

The space and the architecture create an obvious baseline for textile design. In this hotel we also wanted textiles to reflect the values, that the people working on the top of the hill represent: strong will and optimistic mind.

In every space of the hotel the decisions of the material, color and structure have been to fit the interior and surface materials:

LOBBY AND HOTEL RECEPTION: timber, soapstone and copper
STAR SUPERIOR ROOMS: Scandinavian design & oak
BEAR CAVE SUITE: pinewood panels, lichen and rhizome
FENIX SUITE: carbonized panels and marble flagstones

Please take also a peek into at the Aurora suites opened in 2016.

LOBBY AND HOTEL RECEPTION

In the fabrics designed for Hotel Iso-Syöte the themes will and light are imagined as pearls of joy , star belt lightening the sky. The style of the patterns also reflects the renewed graphic style of the hotel.

In the lobby the tight copper colored strips cut the smooth and matt surface of the fabric. The wool colors of the cushions collect together the colors of the space: grey and brown tones of the soapstone and the timber.

In addition to the biggish patterns of the unique fabrics, the third quality was composed. In the lobby this small scale textured fabric called Runo (A Poem) creates a link between the upholstery and the cushion fabrics.

STAR SUPERIOR ROOMS

In Star superior rooms the colors of the fabrics follow the calming beige and grey tones of the interior. The oak furniture and details have given an impact also on the structural design of the fabrics.

Smooth wooden surfaces demanded elegant, slightly structured textiles. The fabric quality was created by reinforced weave, with the help of the changing tones of the yarn. On woollen blankets the double weave and lite felting create a soft fabric quality. A cozy throw to be wrapped in while watching the northern stars.

THE BEAR CAVE SUITE

The Bear Cave Suite was rebuilt according to the suite destroyed in the massive fire in December 2018. Stone floors, pinewood panels, lichen and rhizome create a strong earthly feeling.

When designing textiles for Bear Cave suite, the main focus was on textures created by the means of material variance and structure. Organic lines of the design Ruode were harnessed to serve and enhance these aims. The cushions woven with wool and linen give visual and tactile experiences. Cozy surrounding, woollen hemsheet and soft blankets invite you to spend the whole day in bed.

FEENIKS-SVIITTI

Fenix suite is a symbol of a new beginning. The dark tones of charcoal get stronger beside the blue details in textiles and marble flagstones. Carbonized panels create an effective impact. The black yarn and a tactile woollen material of the suite textiles are aimed to enforce the impression.

Most of the Fenix suite fabrics are woven with the small scale weave Runo. Black, blue and silver yarn offer variation into the texture of this two-sided fabric. In a few cushions blue thin strips cut the black woollen surface like thunderbolts.
